Goals of the club

  • Preserve and protect Newfoundland dogs.
  • Bring together fanciers of the breed.
  • Encourage good sportsmanship at dog shows, obedience trials, working trials, and other competitive and noncompetitive Newf events.
  • Endorse the breed standard, as approved by the Newfoundland Club of America and accepted by the American Kennel Club, as the only standard of excellence.
  • Conduct, host, and sponsor licensed specialty shows, obedience trials, and working trials under the rules of the Newfoundland Club of America and American Kennel Club.
  • And we have lots of fun accomplishing our goals every year!

The Process

The first thing to do is come to an event. We have several events throughout the year and practices for the working dog titles.

Once you get to know us and we get to know you, the next step s to fill out an application. One question on the form is a sponsor. This can be a member you have meet at an event or possibly the person whom you received you dog from if they are a member.

Next you need to choose whether to become a voting member or associate member. Both types of membership are invited to all of our activities and meetings. Both receive our newsletter and email updates. The only difference is that a voting member:

  • Votes for the Club's Officers and Directors.
  • Votes at meetings affecting the direction of the club.
  • Chair an event (Water and Draft Test chairs must also belong to the NCA).

As a voting member we need you to attend as man of our General Membership meetings (4 annual) as possible. We need 20% of the voting members to attend in order to have a quorum and hold the meeting.

Now that the form is complete you can either print and mail it in with a check or email in the form and pay with Pay Pal.

Now that we have your application, your information will be published in our next Newf News newsletter.

After it is publish the Board of Directors will vote on your application at their first meeting being held at least 30 days after publication.

In the mean time you will receive our newsletter and email updates and are invited to all our functions.
